Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

The Carpal Tunnel is a narrow passage at the center of the wrist where the Median nerve, arteries and veins pass from the lower arm into the hand.

Carpal Tunnel syndrome occur when inflamed soft tissue impinges upon the Median nerve in this narrow passage into the hand. The pressure on the nerve causes pain, numbness, tingling, burning or motor weakness of the hand and fingers. The Median nerve supplies the thumb, palm, first finger, middle finger and ring finger with movement and sensation. Any pressure upon the nerve can affect all or some of these areas.

The sensation of pain, numbness and tingling is debilitating and very distracting. Sufferers of this condition are often woken at night with pain or buzzing in the hand. The weakness of the hand can make simple tasks like opening a jar almost impossible.

Often, western medicine treats this condition with a cortisone injection or a wrist operation, outcome are generally good, but at times the injury returns.

Chinese Medicine - Tui Na therapy and Acupuncture is able to reduce the inflammation and manage most carpal tunnel syndromes with much success. These techniques offer you a less invasive, and a more natural approach to deal with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

As with all repetitive strain injuries, it is imperative to change the way that work is carried out. To minimizing the pressure and damage to muscles and tendons, especially while treatment is carried out, to ensure that the condition does not return.

The body's natural landscape is revealed through a detailed diagnostic process.

A Chinese Medical diagnosis can only be realised through a deep understanding of this unique and varied landscape.

Symptoms can only be treated effectively when addressing the underlined cause.

With consideration to environmental and internal conditions.

The physical and emotional, the subtle and the clear. The individual is always treated as a whole.
